ABSTRACT
This paper presents the latest literature concerning commercially available CAD/CAM hybrid ceramics (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) as represented by Vita Enamic (Vita, Zahnfabrik, Germany), Lava Ultimate (3MESPE, Landsberg am Lech, Germany), Cerasmart (GC, Tokyo, Japan). Hybrid ceramics combine the advantages of dental porcelain (highly aesthetics, compressive strength, fluorescence, translucency, luster, abrasion resistance) and composite materials (flexural strength, elasticity, stress absorption, no brittleness, diminished abrasion of antagonistic teeth). Combining greater flexibility with satisfactory values of resistance to flexure and fracture observed in PICN (Polymer Infiltrated Ceramic Network) makes these aterials suitable for many fixed prosthetic restorations. Depending on the clinical situation, a minimum abutment tooth preparation can be used. The first part this article is devoted to description of chemical composition, selected mechanical and optical properties, advantages and disadvantages of the discussed materials. Clinical indications for their use have also been presented. In the second part, the comparative analysis of these materials has been undertaken, based on available literature.
